          It’s impossible to say what is the exact amount of caffeine in 1/4 teaspoon of yerba mate 4:1 extract. My estimate is about 40mg to 60mg of caffeine.

          My estimate is based on this:
          -1/4 teaspoon of yerba mate 4:1 extract weighs about 1 gram
          -dry yerba mate contains about 1% to 1.5% of caffeine so this extract contains about 4% to 6% of caffeine
          -1 gram times 4% to 6% is 40mg to 60mg

      Yerba mate contains more antioxidants and beneficial compounds compared to coffee. When coffee is roasted, many of the beneficial compounds are destroyed.

      However, I have to say that a nice cup of coffee tastes great, and it’s not bad for health if you don’t drink too much of it. But still, after replacing most of my coffee drinking with yerba mate tea, I feel much better. One big difference is that yerba mate is much better for your stomach, and it makes a big difference!

I just purchased a 32 oz jar of the liquid extract from Hawaii Pharm, mostly because my husband and I were spending wayyyyyy too much money on a variety of canned Yerba drinks from the store. Can you please tell me how much caffeine is in 1 ml of the liquid extra (with alcohol)? I am trying to figure it out to have an idea of the drinks I am making us each morning.

      I’m not sure how much exactly is the caffeine content of this extract as it is not stated anywhere on the bottle or packaging. It says 330 mg of dry plant material is used for 1 ml of extract so I would estimate that 1 ml only has about 5 mg of caffeine. This is based on the fact that dry yerba mate contains about 1% to 1,5% caffeine. However, there might be variations depending on how the plants were grown and processed.
