Best Mint Teas in 2024 Tested & Reviewed

Share this post:

Mint tea is a refreshing and healthy drink that is popular in many places around the world, especially in North African countries. It’s also one of my favorite herbal teas.

I have been trying dozens of brands of mint teas, and I wrote this article to introduce my favorite ones.

So whether you are looking for the best pure mint tea product or a delicious blend with mint, you can find it right here.

Best Pure Mint Teas:

Best Mint Tea Blends:

Types of Mint

Mint is a genus of plants in the family Lamiaceae. There are about 13 to 24 different species of mint, but the exact amount is debatable because the distinction between different species is often unclear.

Below is an infographic with the essential information on the 3 most popular types of mint teas:

In addition to being delicious, mint tea has many health benefits and it can be used as a remedy for colds, relieving nausea and headaches, aiding with digestion, and for many other purposes.

The most common mints consumed by humans are peppermint and different variations of spearmint.

Thus, most products introduced in this article contain one (or both) of these. I have also included one product made of wild mint (Mentha arvensis).

Here are short descriptions of each three species of mint:

  • Peppermint contains the most menthol and is often used in herbal teas and remedies. It has a strong pungent taste with a prominent flavor of menthol and is a great herbal remedy for digestion. Peppermint is a cross between spearmint and watermint. This hybrid mint is indigenous to Europe and the Middle East and is now cultivated across the globe.

  • Spearmint has only a small amount of menthol but many prefer its more sweet and delicate taste. This well-known culinary herb is native to Europe and Southwest Asia. Recent research shows promise in using spearmint for increasing cognitive health and working memory. Moroccan mint, also called nana mint, is a variety of spearmint.

  • Wild mint has a more bitter and “minty” flavor compared to peppermint and spearmint. This mint is often used as a digestive remedy and is valued especially for its antiseptic properties.

Best Mint Tea Brands and Products

You can prepare delicious mint tea in so many ways. One great option is to grow your own mint and use fresh leaves for making the tea. If you don’t have a garden, I recommend that you get a hydroponic indoor herb growing kit so you can conveniently grow mint and other plants in your kitchen.

The easiest way to make a cup of invigorating mint tea is to use tea bags.

I often do this when I’m traveling or at the office. It is so easy to carry a few bags of mint tea with you and all you need is some hot water to prepare it.

At home, I always have some high-quality loose leaf mint tea as well.

The price per ounce is more affordable compared to tea bags. And with loose leaf tea you can easily prepare a whole pot and serve it to your family and friends.

In addition to pure mint tea products, I also wanted to include some herbal tea blends here. I have found that some brands offer amazingly delicious blends with ingredients that I would never have thought to combine with mint!

Find Your Favorite Mint Tea!

Mint is one of my favorite herbs and I often enjoy a cup of peppermint tea, sweet Moroccan mint tea, or some of the mint tea blends mentioned above.

I think that mint tea is especially good after a meal or as a remedy for colds.

Also, iced mint tea with lemon is one of the most refreshing drinks on a hot summer day.

What is your favorite mint tea?

That is a hard question, and for me, it is impossible to choose just one brand or product. It really depends on the situation and my mood.

Hence, it is nice to have a variety of excellent brands and blends of teas available. I hope this article will help you with finding the kind of mint tea that you like.

  1. Hi, thanks for the interesting post. I love mint tea and I like Moroccon tea best, especially the way they prepare it. I dont have a brand preference but I´ll check the ones you´re recommending. When in Morocco usually I buy the fresh mint (well dried) tea they sell at the souk. Enjoy your tea.

    • Thanks for your comment Marisa!

I also really want to visit Morocco and try the mint tea there. And also buy the dried mint. I hope I can do that trip soon!

  2. I love mint teas. In fact, we grow our own mint – spearmint, peppermint, chocolate mint, and there is another whose name escapes me at the moment. We dry the leaves and store them in quart jars. There is nothing quite like the aroma of fresh mint leaves.

    • Hi Elden,

I also grow mint, I use it for salads, tea, marinades, and many other things. I have not yet tried drying and storing the leaves though but I think I will get into that soon.

I am also planning to write an article about growing mint.

  5. I’m a fan of the loose leaf above all others. I think that the Numi Organic Tea Moroccan Mint could be a good pick for me. But then again Tiesta Tea Cocoa Mint Chill and the way you suggest to prepare it puts me in a tough position. Anyway, thanks for sharing your list of best mint tea brands.
